State CX Championship moved to Uncle Sam – Saturday Oct 5th in Troy

Due to some last-minute issues at Croton Park, Croton CX, which was set to host the 2024 New York State CX Champs, will not take place.  Fortunately, the Uncle Sam Grand Prix has offered to host the NYSBRA CX Championships on the same day, Saturday, 5Oct, at Prospect Park in Troy.  The Race Director, Nick Groll, did a great job with the CX champs last year and we are grateful that he will be able to do it again.  Thanks, Nick!

West-Woodward Memorial Crowns NYSBRA TT Champions

It was a beautiful day for the West-Woodward Memorial TT/NY State TT Championships. Sunny skies greeted our racers on our scenic courses along the East Branch of the Ausable River from Jay towards Keene and back. There was a stiff headwind going out, which along with the slight elevation gain on the “out” (upriver) leg plus two substantial hills toward the turnaround made for a very tough first half. But the reward was in the return leg: fast! We had just under 100 racers and 125 total entries. Congratulations to the winners, medalists, and all who raced and gave their best!

Tug Hill Hosts Gravel Championships

The Adirondack Foothills Cycling Club (AFCC) hosted the 2024 NYSBRA NYS Gravel Championships in the remote forest of the Tug Hill on July 13th.  In the aftermath of historic flooding in the region from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl, over 165 cyclists braved the heat and humidity for a true test of gravel racing.  The beauty of the Tug Hill was on full display in this year’s edition of the North Winds Gravel Championships.

State Champions are Crowned at CRCA’s Grant’s Tomb Criterium

CRCA hosted the 2024 NYSBRA State Criterium Championship on the famous, highly technical 5-turn course around Grant’s Tomb and historic Riverside Church. Over 500 riders raced in hot, humid conditions for a exciting day of fast, non-stop racing. The General Grant National Memorial made a fitting backdrop for our podium pictures!

Bear Mountain Classic Crowns New York RR Champions!

CRCA hosted the annual Bear Mountain Classic in scenic Harriman State Park on May 5th as almost 400 riders competed for the State Championship on the biggest one-day open race in New York. Competition was high in all fields, which winded through the State Park over a constantly changing profile that didn’t favor any single type of racer. Most fields competed for 42 to 57 miles, with the Men’s Cat 3 racing 71 miles and the Elite men going 85 miles. Despite cool weather and often a light drizzle, fields enjoyed great support from the CRCA staff, a fleet of nine moto-officials, and two fully-equipped neutral service cars. Thank you to all, and congratulations to our new champions and proud owners of the coveted Bear Mountain Classic Stuffed Bears!
